Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Working fine for me. Easy to use. No battery. Lightweight. No gas. Has enough power to cut tall weeds and grass. I’m almost 72 in good health, fit, I can lift a 50 pound cement bag, that kinda stuff. I didn’t want to smell gas fumes. Yes it will take me longer using an electric mower but I also wanted the grass clippings picked up. More of a manicure lawn look. Sometimes I clip the weeds with my long handle shears then use the mower. I know it’s a long arduous process! But at retired 72 all I got is time and burning calories too. I take the clippings over to my next door neighbors goats sheep and chickens and ducks. They love the fresh cut grass and weeds. I’m cutting the Cal Fire required 100 feet clearance around my house, goats pen and dog house. We have 29 acres and lost everything but one house in the June 2024 Apache Wildfire. Barring some other catastrophic event we will be in good shape if another wildfire happens.

Customer Review: The media could not be loaded. I was trying to find something that would pick up grass clippings before the winter. I did not want to deal gas or batteries. I looked at multiple electric corded push lawn mowers on Amazon. The LawnMaster had the best features, prices and reviews. This little lawn mower exceeded my expectations. It cuts the grass with no issues. The lever to change the height is very convenient. It is very easy to push. The cord was not a nuisance and very easy to deal with while pushing the mower back-and-forth. The collection bag is very easy to remove and dump. I filled up two trash cans of grass clippings in under an hour. I highly recommend this lawn mower.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I laughed hysterically telling my cousin and my ex about this lawnmower. I feel like I beat the system or found a loophole and won the lottery. To make sure you understand the conditions I’m dealing with, let me start it by telling you that I weigh 95 lbs, I’m 5” tall, I lift weights almost daily and usually run a few mikes at least twice a week, and I have a yard that’s 99 ft x101 ft (I think that’s just the back… I don’t think that’s either side or the front). I live in the NE of the US so our summers range from about 71°-101° F I think. I live on my own and don’t think I can afford to pay someone to now my lawn every week.Long story: When I first bought my house in 2008, my mom bought me a gas push lawnmower (not self-propelled). It was a bit of a workout to use, but what was challenging for me was the pull cord which always made my sides hurt after a while or made me have to get my boyfriend to start it. I also didn’t know what amounts of the necessary liquids had to go in it or how to prime it. He had to oversee all of that. That pump button didn’t have instructions on it. After we got married, my husband started paying a crew to mow the lawn and got a Ryobi self-propelled electric mower for when they weren’t available. After divorce, my husband sold the mower and moved out. I spent $400 on a Ryobi electric push lawnmower of my own (not self propelled). I did fine with it and had to use I think 2 batteries to cut the whole yard. I have three for when the grass gets too high because of too much rain, too much overtime, or too much homework (I’m in school and I work full time). It could be an extra workout pushing the lawnmower after running 7-26.2 miles or lifting weights for 3 hours, but usually a nap just before was all I needed. About a month ago, the mower stopped working. It didn’t matter which battery I put in it, it wouldn’t start or it would start but turn off after a few seconds or a few minutes. I put it in Home Depot’s repair shop and was told it would be a month and a half before they could even look at it. My brothers have let me borrow their Ego self-propelled mowers a couple times since then. They’re nice but they’re also $800 and they’re heavy, so yay for self-propelled mowers, but I can’t afford to buy my own and my brothers’ mowers are hard to get in and out of a car. I decided to buy another cheaper lawnmower.I wanted one that could cut at the same 4” height, fully electric since I seriously injured my psoas a few times over the past couple years (same place) and can’t be fooling with a pull cord now. I needed it to be cheap otherwise I might as well not bother with the repairs of the other mower. This mower came up in my search along with the Fiskars Stay Sharp 18” push reel mower. A friend suggested I go with this one thinking that even with my athletic lifestyle, a push reel mower might be too exhausting to use regularly on my size yard. When it arrived, I actually picked up the box with one hand! After opening the box, all I had to do was lift the push bar into place and screw the bolts to lock it in position. I bought a couple 12 gauge extension cords, plugged it in, and it started right up. Pushing this thing feels almost like vacuuming. It’s SO lightweight. It makes a grinding noise when I let the trigger go and it sounds like something got caught underneath, but the manual mentioned this so I know it’s normal. This mower cuts better than anything I’ve ever used. The yard looks like I used a laser to cut straight across the grass. My only disappointment is that I only have one outdoor plug on my little old house. I’ll need more extension cords until I can get my ex to come over and teach me how to put in more outdoor plugs (he’s an electrician). Aside from that, I LOVE this mower. No need to recharge batteries, haul on pull cords, mix and pour in fluids, or anything. Oh, I do have to keep moving the cord out of the way, but after getting all those don’ts, what’s one do? This mower was inexpensive and does the job better than my two previous mowers with less exhaustion on my part. Long story short: I highly recommend this mower. To everybody.

Customer Review: Okay, I bought this because my gas powered Husqvarna took a s***. So my grass has been growing like crazy after the hurricane, my yard is a quarter acre and has a drainage ditch in the front with about a 2-ft drop. I live in Florida so that’s about a pretty standard size yard and standard size drainage ditch. The lawn mower showed up basically ready to use all’s I had to do was to extend the arms and tighten down 4 the connectors. To lock the handle in place. Now let me be clear, I’m a plastics engineer. The plastic used to make all the components on this lawn mower are either polystyrene or polypropylene. Which are the absolute cheapest and easiest to use in making plastic components. They will work, but you cannot expect them to have a long lifespan. And you have to protect them from the sunlight. If not they will get brittle and shatter after 2 years. The day I got the lawn mower I was absolutely brutal with the use of it. My grass had grown because of the hurricane. But I was still able to mow my lawn with basically one hand while my other hand held the cord for the electric power . The mower seems to have plenty of power to mow tall grass and is very lightweight. I seem to remember that the website said it weighed 35 lb, but it does not seem to even weigh half that much. Which is a good thing. You’re going to hate the power activation handle that the mower has. First of all again, it’s made out of that cheap plastic and is going to break in a couple of years. In the meantime, you have to hold it constantly to keep the mower from shutting off. If I had my choice I would probably use a zip tie and lock it open but that’s unsafe. And while I don’t care, I’m sure that there are those that would. The mower actually made short work of my yard. I was very, very pleased with how it performed. Definitely worth the money.

Customer Review: Blade fit my Honda powered Troy Bilt perfectly. Would have given 5 stars but as delivered the blade cutting section was completely covered with some fantastic paint but when removed blade did not seem sharp. I sharpened as I would do at start of mowing season and has worked as expected. Am wondering if someone put this blade on as delivered if it would cut grass?

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: They fit. Definitely need to be sharpened before installing.

Customer Review: I purchased this 2-pack of GICOOL 21-inch mulching blades for my Cub Cadet SC100 push mower. I had Cub Cadet OEM mulching blade #742-0741 on the mower. That blade is in desperate need of sharpening or replacement, so I took it off to compare to these GICOOL blades. Side by side, these GICOOL lades are very similar to the OEM blade, but they are not identical. Most importantly though, they FIT and they cut grass! These GICOOL blades look to be well-made, durable, and sharp. They are easy to replace/install, and their cost is very budget friendly. This two-pack cost less than one OEM blade, and the cost of one of these new blades is slightly less than the cost to have the old OEM blade sharpened.Based upon the high quality and low price of these blades, I highly recommend.

Complete Buying Guide for Best Lawn Mower Mulching

Essential Factors We Consider

When selecting the best lawn mower for mulching, we look at several key factors. First, the blade design is crucial – mulching blades have a unique shape to cut grass multiple times, reducing it to fine clippings. We also consider the mower’s deck design, as it needs to efficiently recirculate and chop the grass. Power is another significant factor; a robust motor is needed to effectively process thicker grass. Ease of use, adjustability (like cutting height settings), and overall build quality are also high on our list. Finally, we evaluate how well the mower handles different grass types and conditions, ensuring it can effectively mulch without clumping.

Budget Planning

Lawn mower prices vary widely, from budget-friendly electric models and replacement blades to premium gas-powered machines. Mulching blades themselves are a relatively inexpensive way to improve your current mower’s performance if it already has a mulching capability. For full mowers, corded electric options generally offer the best value for their mulching performance, especially for smaller yards. If your budget allows for a more significant investment, consider a self-propelled mower that excels at mulching thick grass, such as those often found in our best mulching lawn mower for thick grass guide.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the right lawn mower for mulching is about finding a machine that not only cuts your grass efficiently but also turns those clippings into valuable food for your lawn. Whether you opt for a new electric mower or just a high-quality mulching blade to enhance your existing one, the benefits for your lawn’s health and the environment are substantial. Remember to match the mower’s size and power to your yard’s needs for the best results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What makes a lawn mower good for mulching?

A: A lawn mower’s mulching ability depends on a combination of its blade design and deck shape. Mulching blades are typically curved and have multiple cutting edges to finely chop grass. The deck design should allow for the grass to be cut and re-cut before being released back onto the lawn.

Q: Can I mulch leaves with my lawn mower?

A: Yes, many lawn mowers designed for mulching grass can also mulch leaves, especially when the leaves are dry. For best results, it’s often recommended to use a mower specifically designed for mulching leaves, or to do so when the leaves are dry and spread out. Some best mower for mulching leaves are optimized for this task.

Q: How often should I change my mulching blade?

A: Mulching blades should be inspected regularly and sharpened or replaced when they become dull. A dull blade tears grass rather than cutting it cleanly, which can lead to browning and disease. Many experts recommend sharpening mulching blades at least once or twice a season, or more frequently if you have a large yard or mow often.

Q: Is mulching good for my lawn?

A: Yes, mulching is very good for your lawn. It recycles nutrients from grass clippings back into the soil, acting as a natural fertilizer and reducing the need for chemical fertilizers. It also helps retain soil moisture and suppress weeds, leading to a healthier, greener lawn.

Q: Do I need a special mower to mulch?

A: While some mowers are better at mulching than others, many mowers can be equipped with a mulching blade and cover for mulching functionality. If your mower has a 3-in-1 capability (bagging, mulching, side discharge), it’s designed to mulch. If not, you might be able to purchase a mulching kit or blade separately, depending on your mower model.

Investing in a lawn mower with excellent mulching capabilities can significantly improve your lawn’s health and reduce waste. Whether you choose a dedicated electric mower or a high-quality replacement blade, you’re making a smart decision for your yard and the environment. Explore these options and find the perfect fit for your lawn care needs!
