Customer Reviews

“Perfect, does high traffic areas last, very smart and affordable, if you do 2 sweep it gets everything, 1 sweep gets most things for me, I have two kids, and a dog. It’s amazing. Love the schedule option too I am currently out taking my dog to the groomers, no issues. Cleans very well. Super worth the price. 🤩I love how easy set up was, and how easy it was to use. And it really sucks up all sorts of stuff. You can make it very quiet, or if you need the extra power make it up to as loud as it goes, still not as loud as a traditional vacuum. Also mopped up muddy prints like nothing.”

Customer Review: Sarah K.

“I bought this solely for my backyard and I only wish I’d bought it sooner! The set up was easy just a little time consuming but worth it. Mower does an amazing job and for the price if it would only last one summer it would be worth it.”

Customer Reviews

“The media could not be loaded. This mower is honestly pretty wild. It’s one of those products that feels like it’s trying to replace mowing completely. No wires, no pushing, just set it up and let it handle your yard. The biggest thing that stands out is the navigation. It uses RTK and LiDAR, which basically means it maps your yard really accurately and moves in clean lines instead of randomly bumping around. It can connect to a bunch of satellites and get super precise positioning, so it should cover everything evenly without missing spots. It’s also got good cutting power. It has a dual blade system and 32V motor. It can cover a pretty large area pretty quickly. It’s designed for yards around half an acre but if you have a smaller yard it still works well. Plus the trimming gets pretty close and very nifty. Saves me a ton of time! Another thing I like is how hands off it is. You can set schedules, zones and basically let it run on its own. It even goes back to charge when needed and keeps going after. It say it’s super convenient and keeps the lawn looking clean without much effort. It also handles slopes pretty well and can deal with more complex yards, which is nice if your lawn isn’t perfectly flat. It is one of those set it and forget it products. If you hate mowing or just don’t have time, something like this could save you a ton of effort and keep your yard looking consistently good without much work.”

Customer Review: Mark T.

“I purchased this lawnmower for my backyard. Since I have a 1-acre property, cutting the grass is a big task. Instead of hiring a company, I decided to invest in this machine. It was a bit expensive for my budget, but once I saw how well it works, it felt worth every penny. Right out of the box, it’s a solid and well-built machine. I downloaded the app to map my yard, and once that was done, it started working on its own. Because my yard is big, the mower automatically returns to its charging station when the battery runs low, then resumes cutting once it’s recharged. My grandkids often leave toys and balls in the yard, but the mower detects obstacles and navigates around them easily. It also does a great job cutting around trees and along corners. The blades are sharp and the performance is powerful. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now with no complaints. Initially, I had some trouble mapping the yard, but customer service through the app was quick and very helpful. The representative guided me through the process, which gave me confidence in the company’s after-sales support. There’s also an option in the app to create multiple maps, which is a great feature. Overall, I’ve had a great experience with this lawnmower and hope it lasts for a long time.”

Customer Reviews

“I am so delighted we went with the Ecovacs Goat. Some pertinent background; we live in Florida and let me tell you with our daily summer rainstorms our grass needs to be cut every 5 days or so. We only have grass in the front and on the sides of the house. The grass covers just under 1/4 acre. Set up out of the box was intuitive and pretty easy, in my opinion. I should note I do not consider myself exceptionally tech savvy either. I was able to sync with my home WiFi in under a minute. The unit updated for about 10 minutes and then it was time to sync with the satellites. The process was simple, the first time it only synced with 19 satellites but it was super easy to restart the process. The second time around I made sure I was more than 2 feet away. Worked like a charm! Once I had the unit synced with satellites. It was time to map our property. I found the process rather intuitive and honestly quite quick for what was taking place. After mapping was complete I let the robot charge to full and decided to run it for a cut. The robot did a beautiful job. Our lawn looked as good as if we had used the push mower ourselves. I really like that this ecovacs model doesn’t have a perimeter wire. I can’t imagine how time and energy intensive installing a perimeter wire might be. The real time GPS navigation is working flawlessly for us. Another cool feature is the LiDAR to detect obstacles and the subsequently avoid the obstacles. Our oldest son had left a hose out during a mow that we missed. The ecovacs robot avoided the hose thus saving us an expense replacing it. The ecovacs robot is surprisingly quiet, magnitudes upon magnitudes quieter than our push mower. It also has a zero cutting edge which actually works, we definitely will not have to edge every time we mow with how good this robot mows edges. The app is amazing and so easy to use. I can customize zones and schedule mowings all from the comfort of my house when I have a spare minute. Battery life was more than enough to finish mowing our whole lawn in one charge. Overall I am beyond delighted with the performance of this robot mower for all the reasons mentioned. I really did not find anything worthy of a complaint.”

Customer Review: Michael B.

“The Best robotic mower I ever seen! First, the packaging: It came very well packaged and organized, everything wrapped and put together in a way that makes it easy to unwrap and get going! The instructions: Super clear and easy to follow. Plus when you download the app you get a short guide that is easy to follow. At first it might look like a lot of parts but it’s really not bad at all. Took me 10 mins to put together. The calibration: I would say this was tricky at first but only because my backyard has a weird shape that at first it wasn’t connecting, but when I moved thing around it connected instantly. I think the robot has to be facing the stick thing in a certain way like shown in the picture. The functionality: It starts with the mapping and then it quickly starts mowing, the map is pretty precise and clear and you can make zones. The trimming is pretty close to perfect, it does the work in a very organized fashion missing barely any spot. I say almost because the first ran it missed a small area, but when I ran it again it took care of it. Bonus features: I love that you can track the progress real time and you can literally view the progress using a front camera that comes in a really good quality. Overall thoughts: I am very pleased with THE GOAT, it’s gonna save me a lot of time and energy and it’s definitely worth the price for me.”

Customer Reviews

“just upgraded to this machine and this thing is outstanding. everything worked perfectly right out of the box! i was worried about the hills in my yard but the awd handles slopes like it’s nothing. best part is the wire-free setup—the 3d lidar and ai mapping is super smart and didn’t take long to map out my whole property, honestly i never have to touch my lawn again lol, a huge time saver!”

Customer Review: David L.

“The thing that sold me on this was the over 20 minute video showing exactly how to train and use this. It addressed all of my questions and concerns. I wanted a robot mower with lidar or really good mapping equipment, because of my weirdly shaped and separate lawns. Now that I have mapped my lawns and used the mower, I have some thoughts. Pros: The hardware is very capable of driving itself. The software is great and pretty intuitive. It seems to do a decent job mowing the lawn. Cons: the wheel motors have insufficient torque, and because they’re rear wheel drive with low bumpers, it gets stuck on hills. Be warned, if you have some tall weeds like dandelions or grass patches that grow faster, you might need to disable the lidar obstacle recognition temporarily. Also, you might need to trim the lawn edges by hand. Overall, I’d say this is worth it for the right situation.”

Customer Reviews

“The media could not be loaded. I’ve been running this for over a week now and it’s been everything I hoped for! I’ve got a side yard that I have to pass over my driveway, through a gate and up some steps, then across the entire length of the pool and patio to get to when I have to mow. Not fun, so I bought this guy to save me from having to haul my mower around that way. This thing is all app based, and the app is super robust and runs well. Initial set up requires mapping your yard, and you can either use its auto mode for that or you can drive the thing around yourself like a remote control car. I highly recommend the latter, it’s pretty fun! The app records the map and then you’re ready to mow. I was shocked by how quiet this thing is, even had to check that it was doing anything! It’s honestly about as loud as a remote control car, even when it’s cutting some grass. Cutting performance is solid, and it does it consistently by following a back and forth path across your yard just like you’d do if you were mowing. It does well with obstacles and uneven terrain, I haven’t had to rescue it or anything. The base is easy to move around so you can find the right spot and the power cable to reach your outlet is like 30 feet long or more, it seems like it’s long enough for most situations. You can put it on a schedule or run it any time through the app. In the app you can monitor its progress, see statistics, change settings, etc. It’s a big investment, but if you’ve got a good use for it then I think you’ll end up pretty happy getting one!”

Customer Review: Kevin R.

“The media could not be loaded. My Dad is 47, and he spent hours pushing a heavy mower around our lawn every weekend for years. I bought this as a birthday present for my dad. Setup was very easy; fortunately, this lawn mower did not have any beacons or any wires around the perimeter. Lidar quickly maps the whole lawn without too much effort. It comes with auto mapping mode, which can mark the boundaries by itself, and the only thing he had to do was map the neighbors’ boundaries. The Goat 01000 cuts consistently all across the entire lawn, even tho my lawn inst really leveled and has a good amount of slope. It hasn’t gotten stuck or run over any of the obstacles. Battery life easily covers about 1/4 acres and also charges quickly. Great product works really well, it’s a solid investment for saving time and money if you pay others to do it. The price might seem to be high, but getting my dad those weekend hours is worth the cost.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Robot Lawn Mower For Edges

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing a robot lawn mower for edges, we look at several key features. Primarily, we examine its navigation system – models with LiDAR, RTK, or advanced AI vision mapping tend to perform best at accurately following boundaries. We also assess the design of the cutting system; some mowers have dedicated edge-trimming blades or special cutting paths designed to get as close to obstacles as possible. The ability to manage complex lawn shapes and slopes is also crucial, as these can often be where edging becomes most important. Finally, ease of setup and app control play a significant role in overall user satisfaction, especially for those who want a truly hands-off experience.

Budget Planning

Robot lawn mowers for edges can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand. Models with basic boundary wire systems might be more budget-friendly, but often struggle with precision edging. For superior edge cutting without wires, models employing LiDAR or RTK navigation are generally in the mid to high price range. Consider your lawn size and the complexity of your landscaping when determining your budget. While a higher initial investment might seem daunting, the time savings and consistently clean edges can make it a worthwhile investment in the long run. Remember to factor in potential accessory costs or extended warranties.

Final Thoughts

Finding the right robot lawn mower for edges is about balancing advanced technology with your specific lawn needs and budget. Whether you opt for a model with specialized trimming blades or one with superior AI mapping, the goal is to achieve that crisp, clean line around your property without manual labor. The models we’ve reviewed represent the best in class for edge performance, offering innovative solutions to this common lawn care challenge. Investing in one of these can significantly enhance your lawn’s curb appeal and free up your valuable time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What makes a robot lawn mower good for edges?

A: A robot lawn mower is good for edges if it has advanced navigation systems (like LiDAR or RTK) that allow it to precisely map and follow boundaries, or if it features specific edge-trimming blades or a design that allows the cutting deck to get very close to walls and fences.

Q: Do robot lawn mowers require a boundary wire for edge cutting?

A: Not all of them. While older or more basic models often rely on boundary wires, many newer, high-end models use GPS (RTK), LiDAR, or AI vision to map the lawn and navigate without any wires, offering superior edge-cutting capabilities.

Q: Can robot lawn mowers cut grass right up to the edge of a fence or wall?

A: Some advanced models are designed to cut within an inch or two of edges, often referred to as “zero-edge cutting” or having a “TruEdge Trimmer.” However, achieving a perfectly clean cut directly against every surface can still be challenging for any mower, robotic or manual.

Q: How do I ensure my robot lawn mower covers all edges of my yard?

A: Proper initial mapping is key. If your mower uses GPS or LiDAR, ensure the mapping process covers your entire lawn, including all border areas. For wire-based systems, ensure the boundary wire is installed correctly and covers all edges you want the mower to approach.

Q: What if my lawn has many flower beds or obstacles?

A: Look for models with excellent obstacle detection systems (like AI vision or 3D sensors) that can identify and navigate around objects like flower beds, trees, and garden furniture without damaging them or the mower.

Achieving perfectly manicured lawn edges has never been easier thanks to the innovative features found in today’s robot lawn mowers. From advanced LiDAR mapping to specialized trimming blades, these machines are designed to take the tedious work out of maintaining your property’s borders. If you’re ready to say goodbye to manual edging and hello to a consistently pristine lawn, now is the perfect time to explore these top-rated robot lawn mowers.
