Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “The media could not be loaded. The mower doesnt like anything taller than the sensor. It went in circles with 1 foot tall grass in backyard. Rated 0/10 in backyard. I saw another review where a robot lawnmower cut grass as tall as cornfields. Not this one. Put in front yard that needs retouching only and it works just fine. Slow. But fine. Won’t get edges so use weed eater to trim edges. Ive posted video of front yard. Won’t let me post both videos”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I am so delighted we went with the Ecovacs Goat. Some pertinent background; we live in Florida and let me tell you with our daily summer rainstorms our grass needs to be cut every 5 days or so. We only have grass in the front and on the sides of the house. The grass covers just under 1/4 acre.Set up out of the box was intuitive and pretty easy, in my opinion. I should note I do not consider myself exceptionally tech savvy either. I was able to sync with my home WiFi in under a minute. The unit updated for about 10 minutes and then it was time to sync with the satellites. The process was simple, the first time it only synced with 19 satellites but it was super easy to restart the process. The second time around I made sure I was more than 2 feet away. Worked like a charm!Once I had the unit synced with satellites. It was time to map our property. I found the process rather intuitive and honestly quite quick for what was taking place. After mapping was complete I let the robot charge to full and decided to run it for a cut. The robot did a beautiful job. Our lawn looked as good as if we had used the push mower ourselves.I really like that this ecovacs model doesn’t have a perimeter wire. I can’t imagine how time and energy intensive installing a perimeter wire might be. The real time GPS navigation is working flawlessly for us.Another cool feature is the LiDAR to detect obstacles and the subsequently avoid the obstacles. Our oldest son had left a hose out during a mow that we missed. The ecovacs robot avoided the hose thus saving us an expense replacing it.The ecovacs robot is surprisingly quiet, magnitudes upon magnitudes quieter than our push mower. It also has a zero cutting edge which actually works, we definitely will not have to edge every time we mow with how good this robot mows edges. The app is amazing and so easy to use. I can customize zones and schedule mowings all from the comfort of my house when I have a spare minute. Battery life was more than enough to finish mowing our whole lawn in one charge. Overall I am beyond delighted with the performance of this robot mower for all the reasons mentioned. I really did not find anything worthy of a complaint.”

– Jessica P.

Customer Review: “The Best robotic mower I ever seen!First , the packaging:It came very well packaged and organized, everything wrapped and put together in a way that makes it easy to unwrap and get going! The instructions:Super clear and easy to follow. Plus when you download the app you get a short guide that is easy to follow. At first it might look like a lot of parts but it’s really not bad at all. Took me 10 mins to put together. The calibration:I would say this was tricky at first but only because my backyard has a weird shape that at first it wasn’t connecting, but when I moved thing around it connected instantly. I think the robot has to be facing the stick thing in a certain way like shown in the picture. The functionality:It starts with the mapping and then it quickly starts mowing, the map is pretty precise and clear and you can make zones. The trimming is pretty close to perfect, it does the work in a very organized fashion missing barely any spot. I say almost because the first ran it missed a small area, but when I ran it again it took care of it.Bonus features:I love that you can track the progress real time and you can literally view the progress using a front camera that comes in a really good quality.Overall thoughts:I am very pleased with THE GOAT, it’s gonna save me a lot of time and energy and it’s definitely worth the price for me,”

Cons:
  • May not fit very large or unusually shaped mowers.
  • Wind can be an issue without proper staking.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Easy to assemble robot shelter. I’m using it to cover my N1600 PRO robot mower. After mowing, I like to close the front up. We get lots of rain, and this cover does very well to keep water out. Be sure to put it on a higher spot in your lawn so water won’t puddle. I staked it down to protect form windy days. But the frame is pretty heavy for how small it is. Being reflective, it doesn’t trap a bunch of heat. I put mine where it is partially shaded during the day as well. I do wish it was larger as it won’t fit the Lymow One Plus mower.”

– Robert L.

Customer Review: “This miniature tent garage works exactly as advertised. Assembly was super quick and tool-free (all the poles snap together) and the cover fits snugly with elastic straps at the bottom. A few ground stakes help keep it secure against wind. The roll-up front works well, letting the mower robot come and go freely, and can be closed for long-term storage or winter. Sturdy, simple, and perfect for protecting the mower and charging base from the elements.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I was between the Orion X7 and the Luba mower. I decided on the Orion based off reviews and capabilities the Orion offers. I needed a mower that could manage a small hill in my backyard, but also manage different areas of my yard since it has several “islands” of grass.First off, I received the mower 2 days after ordering! It took about 2 hours for me to install. I followed the directions in the app, and I couldn’t figure out how to connect the robot to the internet, so I watched their YouTube video “Sunseeker ORION X7: Step-by-Step Installation Guide” (SUPER helpful). Setting up mowing zones was very easy, and I LOVE how it mows in rows.It looks like Sunseeker pushes updates frequently in their app, so I am excited to see what other options are going to be available. So far, obstacle avoidance has worked perfectly (we always have a ball or some toy in the yard). RTK was easy to connect to. Cuts almost my whole yard in one charge, but I also have a mix of grasses and the hill which will obviously use more battery to navigate.Overall, very impressed. I like how they put their dealer info on their website so if there are any issues, I can call them for a quicker response. It is very quiet, I hardly realize it is even there. Being in the South, I am SO happy I don’t have to mow in 95 degree weather anymore! Recommending to all my friends and family!”

– Emily S.

Customer Review: “Great buy! I didn’t mow my lawn with my old push mower at all last year! Runs day or night and does a great job. Bermuda does great when it’s kept short – and having this mower run a couple times per week is clutch! Great support as well.”

– Michael B.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Perfect, does high traffic areas last, very smart and affordable, if you do 2 sweep it gets everything, 1 sweep gets most things for me, I have two kids, and a dog. It’s amazing. Love the schedule option too I am currently out taking my dog to the groomers, no issues. Cleans very well. Super worth the price. 🤩I love how easy set up was, and how easy it was to use. And it really sucks up all sorts of stuff. You can make it very quiet, or if you need the extra power make it up to as loud as it goes, still not as loud as a traditional vacuum. Also mopped up muddy prints like nothing.”

– Amanda G.

Customer Review: “I bought this solely for my backyard and I only wish I’d bought it sooner! The set up was easy just a little time consuming but worth it. Mower does an amazing job and for the price if it would only last one summer it would be worth it.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “just upgraded to this machine and this thing is outstanding. everything worked perfectly right out of the box! i was worried about the hills in my yard but the awd handles slopes like it’s nothing. best part is the wire-free setup—the 3d lidar and ai mapping is super smart and didn’t take long to map out my whole property, honestly i never have to touch my lawn again lol, a huge time saver!”

– Brian W.

Customer Review: “The thing that sold me on this was the over 20 minute video showing exactly how to train and use this. It addressed all of my questions and concerns.I wanted a robot mower with lidar or really good mapping equipment, because of my weirdly shaped and separate lawns. Now that I have mapped my lawns and used the mower, I have some thoughts.Pros: The hardware is very capable of driving itself. The software is great and pretty intuitive. It seems to do a decent job mowing the lawn.Cons: the wheel motors have insufficient torque, and because they’re rear wheel drive with low bumpers, it gets stuck on hills.Be warned, if you have some tall weeds like dandelions or grass patches that grow faster, you might need to disable the lidar obstacle recognition temporarily. Also, you might need to trim the lawn edges by hand.Overall, I’d say this is worth it for the right situation.”

Complete Buying Guide for Robot Lawn Mower Snow Blower Potential

Essential Factors We Consider

When looking for a robot lawn mower that could potentially handle more than just grass, we focused on advanced navigation systems like GPS, RTK, and LiDAR. These technologies are crucial for precise movement and mapping, which are fundamental for any automated outdoor task. We also prioritized models with robust obstacle avoidance sensors and AI capabilities. These features ensure the safety and efficiency of the machine, regardless of the terrain or weather it encounters. The ability to adjust cutting height or perform other fine-tuning via an app is also a plus, suggesting a higher degree of control and adaptability. For those interested in snow clearing, a sturdy build and potential for added attachments would be key, though this is a developing area for these devices.

Budget Planning

Robot lawn mowers vary significantly in price, from entry-level models suitable for small yards to high-end machines packed with the latest technology for larger, more complex properties. While a dedicated robot snow blower is rare, you might consider a capable robot lawn mower and a separate, high-quality snow blower, perhaps a best blower for clearing snow, for true all-season automation. When budgeting, factor in potential accessories like garages for protection or even future snow-clearing attachments. It’s also worth remembering that a good robot mower can save you considerable time and effort over its lifespan, making it a worthwhile investment.

Final Thoughts

While a true “robot lawn mower snow blower” isn’t widely available as a single unit yet, the advancements in robot lawn mower technology are paving the way. By choosing a model with sophisticated navigation and intelligent sensors, you’re investing in a platform that could potentially be adapted or complemented for winter tasks. Consider your yard’s specific needs and explore the advanced features that offer the most versatility for year-round potential.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can robot lawn mowers really handle snow?

A: Currently, most robot lawn mowers are not designed to handle snow. Their primary function is cutting grass, and snow can be too heavy or dense for their mechanisms. However, some models with advanced navigation might be adaptable with specialized attachments in the future, or could potentially clear very light dustings of snow.

Q: What is RTK navigation in robot mowers?

A: RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) navigation uses GPS signals corrected by a base station to achieve centimeter-level accuracy. This allows robot mowers to navigate precisely without boundary wires, making them highly efficient and reliable for complex lawn layouts.

Q: How do I protect my robot lawn mower in winter?

A: It’s crucial to store your robot lawn mower indoors during winter. Clean it thoroughly, disconnect the battery (if removable and recommended by the manufacturer), and store it in a dry, temperature-controlled environment to prevent damage from cold and moisture. A good battery charger is also essential for maintaining battery health over the off-season.

Q: Are robot lawn mowers suitable for hilly yards?

A: Many modern robot lawn mowers are designed to handle slopes, with some models capable of navigating inclines up to 45% or more. Always check the product specifications for slope tolerance. For very steep yards, you might need to consider specialized models or even a best riding lawn mower for steep hills.

Q: What’s the difference between LiDAR and vision-based navigation for robot mowers?

A: LiDAR navigation uses lasers to create a 3D map of the surroundings, offering high accuracy in various lighting conditions. Vision-based navigation uses cameras and AI to interpret the environment. Many advanced mowers combine both technologies for optimal performance and safety.

While a single robot machine that perfectly mows your lawn and blows your snow is still a bit of a futuristic concept, the technology in today’s robot lawn mowers is incredibly advanced. We’ve looked at some of the best models that offer sophisticated navigation, smart obstacle avoidance, and user-friendly app controls, making them highly efficient at lawn care. If you’re looking to automate more of your outdoor chores, starting with a top-tier robot lawn mower is an excellent investment. Explore these options and prepare your yard for a season of effortless maintenance!
