Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I am so delighted we went with the Ecovacs Goat. Some pertinent background; we live in Florida and let me tell you with our daily summer rainstorms our grass needs to be cut every 5 days or so. We only have grass in the front and on the sides of the house. The grass covers just under 1/4 acre. Set up out of the box was intuitive and pretty easy, in my opinion. I should note I do not consider myself exceptionally tech savvy either. I was able to sync with my home WiFi in under a minute. The unit updated for about 10 minutes and then it was time to sync with the satellites. The process was simple, the first time it only synced with 19 satellites but it was super easy to restart the process. The second time around I made sure I was more than 2 feet away. Worked like a charm! Once I had the unit synced with satellites. It was time to map our property. I found the process rather intuitive and honestly quite quick for what was taking place. After mapping was complete I let the robot charge to full and decided to run it for a cut. The robot did a beautiful job. Our lawn looked as good as if we had used the push mower ourselves. I really like that this ecovacs model doesn’t have a perimeter wire. I can’t imagine how time and energy intensive installing a perimeter wire might be. The real time GPS navigation is working flawlessly for us. Another cool feature is the LiDAR to detect obstacles and the subsequently avoid the obstacles. Our oldest son had left a hose out during a mow that we missed. The ecovacs robot avoided the hose thus saving us an expense replacing it. The ecovacs robot is surprisingly quiet, magnitudes upon magnitudes quieter than our push mower. It also has a zero cutting edge which actually works, we definitely will not have to edge every time we mow with how good this robot mows edges. The app is amazing and so easy to use. I can customize zones and schedule mowings all from the comfort of my house when I have a spare minute. Battery life was more than enough to finish mowing our whole lawn in one charge. Overall I am beyond delighted with the performance of this robot mower for all the reasons mentioned. I really did not find anything worthy of a complaint.”

Customer Review: “The Best robotic mower I ever seen! First, the packaging: It came very well packaged and organized, everything wrapped and put together in a way that makes it easy to unwrap and get going! The instructions: Super clear and easy to follow. Plus when you download the app you get a short guide that is easy to follow. At first it might look like a lot of parts but it’s really not bad at all. Took me 10 mins to put together. The calibration: I would say this was tricky at first but only because my backyard has a weird shape that at first it wasn’t connecting, but when I moved thing around it connected instantly. I think the robot has to be facing the stick thing in a certain way like shown in the picture. The functionality: It starts with the mapping and then it quickly starts mowing, the map is pretty precise and clear and you can make zones. The trimming is pretty close to perfect, it does the work in a very organized fashion missing barely any spot. I say almost because the first ran it missed a small area, but when I ran it again it took care of it. Bonus features: I love that you can track the progress real time and you can literally view the progress using a front camera that comes in a really good quality. Overall thoughts: I am very pleased with THE GOAT, it’s gonna save me a lot of time and energy and it’s definitely worth the price for me.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “The mower doesn’t like anything taller than the sensor. It went in circles with 1 foot tall grass in backyard. Rated 0/10 in backyard. I saw another review where a robot lawnmower cut grass as tall as cornfields. Not this one. Put in front yard that needs retouching only and it works just fine. Slow. But fine. Won’t get edges so use weed eater to trim edges. I’ve posted video of front yard. Won’t let me post both videos.”

Customer Review: “This thing works great for a small level yard. You have to keep an eye on it as it occasionally gets stuck in a corner.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I was between the Orion X7 and the Luba mower. I decided on the Orion based off reviews and capabilities the Orion offers. I needed a mower that could manage a small hill in my backyard, but also manage different areas of my yard since it has several “islands” of grass. First off, I received the mower 2 days after ordering! It took about 2 hours for me to install. I followed the directions in the app, and I couldn’t figure out how to connect the robot to the internet, so I watched their YouTube video “Sunseeker ORION X7: Step-by-Step Installation Guide” (SUPER helpful). Setting up mowing zones was very easy, and I LOVE how it mows in rows. It looks like Sunseeker pushes updates frequently in their app, so I am excited to see what other options are going to be available. So far, obstacle avoidance has worked perfectly (we always have a ball or some toy in the yard). RTK was easy to connect to. Cuts almost my whole yard in one charge, but I also have a mix of grasses and the hill which will obviously use more battery to navigate. Overall, very impressed. I like how they put their dealer info on their website so if there are any issues, I can call them for a quicker response. It is very quiet, I hardly realize it is even there. Being in the South, I am SO happy I don’t have to mow in 95 degree weather anymore! Recommending to all my friends and family!”

Customer Review: “Great buy! I didn’t mow my lawn with my old push mower at all last year! Runs day or night and does a great job. Bermuda does great when it’s kept short – and having this mower run a couple times per week is clutch! Great support as well.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Perfect, does high traffic areas last, very smart and affordable, if you do 2 sweeps it gets everything, 1 sweep gets most things for me, I have two kids, and a dog. It’s amazing. Love the schedule option too I am currently out taking my dog to the groomers, no issues. Cleans very well. Super worth the price. 🤩 I love how easy set up was, and how easy it was to use. And it really sucks up all sorts of stuff. You can make it very quiet, or if you need the extra power make it up to as loud as it goes, still not as loud as a traditional vacuum. Also mopped up muddy prints like nothing.”

Customer Review: “I bought this solely for my backyard and I only wish I’d bought it sooner! The set up was easy just a little time consuming but worth it. Mower does an amazing job and for the price if it would only last one summer it would be worth it.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Just upgraded to this machine and this thing is outstanding. Everything worked perfectly right out of the box! I was worried about the hills in my yard but the AWD handles slopes like it’s nothing. Best part is the wire-free setup—the 3D LiDAR and AI mapping is super smart and didn’t take long to map out my whole property, honestly I never have to touch my lawn again lol, a huge time saver!”

Customer Review: “The thing that sold me on this was the over 20 minute video showing exactly how to train and use this. It addressed all of my questions and concerns. I wanted a robot mower with lidar or really good mapping equipment, because of my weirdly shaped and separate lawns. Now that I have mapped my lawns and used the mower, I have some thoughts. Pros: The hardware is very capable of driving itself. The software is great and pretty intuitive. It seems to do a decent job mowing the lawn. Cons: the wheel motors have insufficient torque, and because they’re rear wheel drive with low bumpers, it gets stuck on hills. Be warned, if you have some tall weeds like dandelions or grass patches that grow faster, you might need to disable the lidar obstacle recognition temporarily. Also, you might need to trim the lawn edges by hand. Overall, I’d say this is worth it for the right situation.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Robot Lawn Mower For Florida

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing the best robot lawn mower for Florida, we looked at several key factors that are crucial for the Sunshine State’s climate and typical yards. We prioritized models with excellent navigation systems, especially those that are wire-free, as installing wires in humid Florida soil can be a hassle. Durability and water resistance are also paramount, given the frequent rain showers and high humidity. We also considered their ability to handle common Florida lawn issues like persistent growth, and their efficiency in covering areas, ensuring they can tackle the lush grass that’s characteristic of the region. The ease of setup and app control were also significant, as most users want a truly hands-off experience. For those dealing with uneven landscapes, slope handling was a definite plus. For lawns that require precise trimming, we noted models with superior edge-cutting capabilities, which can minimize the need for a best shovel for edging lawn or a string trimmer.

Budget Planning

Robot lawn mowers can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars, and the price often reflects the technology and features offered. For Florida homeowners, investing in a model with robust navigation, good water resistance, and strong obstacle avoidance is often worth the higher cost, especially if you have a larger or more complex yard. Consider the long-term benefits: reduced manual labor, consistent lawn health, and the time you’ll save. Think about the total cost of ownership, including any potential maintenance or accessories. If your budget is tighter, look for models that offer essential features for smaller, simpler lawns, potentially requiring boundary wire installation, which often comes at a lower initial price point. Exploring options like those we’ve reviewed can help you find a great mower that fits your financial plan.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, the best robot lawn mower for your Florida home depends on your specific yard’s size, terrain, and your personal preferences for features like wire-free operation and advanced navigation. The models we’ve highlighted represent the top performers that can handle the unique demands of Florida lawns. By carefully considering the factors discussed, you can confidently select a robot mower that will keep your grass looking its best, freeing up your time to enjoy everything else Florida has to offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are robot lawn mowers suitable for the Florida heat and humidity?

A: Yes, most modern robot lawn mowers are designed to operate in various weather conditions, including the heat and humidity common in Florida. Look for models with good water resistance ratings (IPX ratings) to ensure they can withstand occasional rain showers. While they operate in the heat, it’s generally advisable to schedule mowing during cooler parts of the day to protect both the mower and the grass.

Q: Do I need to install boundary wires for all robot lawn mowers?

A: Not necessarily. Many newer, high-end models utilize RTK GPS or advanced AI vision and LiDAR for navigation, eliminating the need for boundary wires. These wire-free options offer simpler setup but often come at a higher cost. Traditional models still rely on boundary wires, which require careful installation around the perimeter of your lawn.

Q: How often should a robot lawn mower cut the grass in Florida?

A: Given Florida’s rapid grass growth, you’ll likely want your robot mower to operate frequently, perhaps daily or every other day. Robot mowers work best with frequent, light cuts rather than infrequent, heavy ones. This maintains grass health and keeps it looking consistently neat.

Q: Can robot lawn mowers handle the common types of grass in Florida?

A: Yes, most robot lawn mowers are designed to cut common grass types found in Florida, such as St. Augustine, Bahia, Bermuda, and Zoysia. They typically have adjustable cutting heights to accommodate these grasses and maintain them at optimal lengths.

Q: What happens if the robot mower encounters obstacles like toys or pet waste?

A: Advanced robot mowers are equipped with sensors and AI vision to detect and avoid obstacles. Some models can even recognize and navigate around pet waste. However, it’s always a good practice to clear your lawn of larger objects before the mower starts its work to ensure optimal performance and prevent potential damage.

Reclaiming your weekends and enjoying a perfectly manicured lawn in Florida has never been easier thanks to the advancements in robot lawn mower technology. Whether you’re dealing with a sprawling estate or a cozy suburban yard, there’s a smart mower out there for you.
