Customer Reviews

Customer Review: The media could not be loaded. Easy to assemble right out of the box, just follow the instructions closely, not that much to do. Once assembled, I waited for a decent weather day in February here in Michigan to test it out. I already had two 80V 4ah batteries from my Greenworks power mower I recently purchased, that’s why I ordered the tool only. I had an area on my property I didn’t get to during fall cleanup (using my old gas powered backpack blower) so was anxious to test it out during a mild 50 degree February day on 2/12/23. I inserted a battery and WOW, was so impressed from the moment I squeezed the trigger. It is very powerful. I am very pleased with its performance, even to blow stubborn leaves embedded in ground cover as you can see in my video. I hardly even needed to use the turbo function but did at times for testing purposes. It’s lighter than my old gas backpack blower and also more comfortable to wear. I operated it around 30 minutes total with/without turbo, mostly without because it’s powerful enough without, but there will be times to utilize turbo and you will know when. I highly recommend it if you want a great, powerful blower that doesn’t require gas/oil, spark plug, air filter, etc. It actually exceeded my already high expectations! I’m a 73 year old man with some mobility issues so appreciate the advantages of this particular blower. Love it! I’m glad I already have the two 4ah batteries to take advantage of purchasing just the blower. It’s always nice to have a spare battery.

Customer Review: I moved up from a corded electric blower (Stihl BGE 60) and this is a huge improvement. It blows pine needles and even pine cones, at least into stacks that can be picked up with a rake. It also took on our natural area with ease, where it was able to pick up and move matted patches of decayed leaves and pine needles, again to move into piles for pickup with a rake. The turbo switch is a great help with this, but also uses up the battery a lot faster. I have the 4 amp battery, which is good for a hour or so, depending on how much you use the turbo switch. I do recommend the 4 amp battery over the 2 amp battery if you have a lot of trees; you won’t notice the extra weight in the backpack. (I also have the Greenworks lawnmower, so the cost of the battery is shared over these two tools.) Not having to deal with a gasoline engine, especially the 2-cycle models that are common on blowers, is a big plus.Ergonomically, the backpack is very comfortable once you get it adjusted. The trigger lock is a nice touch, so you don’t have to grip the trigger to keep it running. This makes the blower tube light and easy to handle. You feel virtually no vibration, another huge improvement over hand-held models. Cons: First, it is purely a right-side blower; if you need to blow under shrubs that are only accessible on your left, you’ll have to make two or three passes to get leaves out from under the shrub and moved to an area where you have more freedom of movement. Second, the blower tube angles down more than I’m used to with a hand-held blower, so when you need to get close to the ground for large piles or mats, you have to lean over more.Overall, I’d give it a 4.8; any design with have its compromises, but it’s hard to imagine a better blower for home use at such a reasonable price.

Customer Review: I had high hopes for this gas-powered backpack leaf blower, but it turned out to be a major disappointment. Yes, it’s powerful on paper—an 80cc engine with 900 CFM and 206 MPH sounds impressive—but that means nothing when the product breaks after just one week of use. It’s also incredibly heavy and uncomfortable, making it hard to use for any extended period of time, regardless of the so-called “backpack design.”Assembly was not as smooth as advertised, and getting it to start was inconsistent, definitely not the “starts on the first pull” experience they promise. After only a few uses, the unit stopped working entirely. For something marketed as durable and suitable for commercial use, it couldn’t even handle basic residential yard work without falling apart.I feel completely let down by the quality and lack of reliability. This is not a cheap piece of equipment, and I expected better for the price. Total waste of money. I do not recommend this blower to anyone—save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere. This product is more trouble than it’s worth.

3. WORX Trivac 3-in-1 Electric Leaf Blower, Vacuum & Mulcher

WORX Trivac 3-in-1 Electric Leaf Blower, Vacuum & Mulcher: 350 CFM, 210 MPH, metal impeller for efficient lawn care.

The WORX Trivac 3-in-1 is an excellent budget-friendly option that combines three essential yard tools into one. It functions as a blower, vacuum, and mulcher, with a respectable 350 CFM and 210 MPH for blowing. Its metal impeller efficiently shreds leaves at an 18:1 ratio, turning a large pile into a single bag of mulch. While it’s corded, it offers great value for smaller yards.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • 3-in-1 functionality: Blower, Vacuum, Mulcher
  • 350 CFM airflow and 210 MPH speed
  • Efficient 18:1 mulching ratio
  • Metal impeller for durability and performance

This WORX Trivac is a versatile and affordable tool for keeping your yard tidy. It’s easy to switch between functions, and the mulching capability significantly reduces the volume of yard waste. It’s a smart choice for those who want a multi-functional device without breaking the bank.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Very affordable and multi-functional.
  • Effective mulching reduces waste volume.
  • Lightweight and easy to maneuver.
  • Simple to convert between modes.
Cons:
  • Corded operation limits range.
  • Might struggle with very dense or wet leaves in vacuum mode.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I got tired of paying someone to take care of the leaves that accumulate in my yard each Fall, so I decided to buy this Worx Trivac leaf mulcher to help me do the job myself. I have owned several Worx tools over the years, so I know that their quality is excellent. This device is actually a blower as well, but I wouldn’t call it a 3-in-1 device since the vacuum and mulcher features are really just one function (It sucks in the leaves and mulches them before depositing them into the attached bag). Since this mulcher requires a power cord, I would recommend using at least a 50-foot cord and maybe even a 100-foot one, depending on the size of your yard. After using this mulcher for an entire weekend, I am very pleased with it so far. However, I have 2 recommendations. First of all, make sure you don’t have any rocks, small tree branches, or other objects in the yard that could damage the impeller or cause it to get clogged. So I would suggest walking around your yard and removing any objects besides leaves that could cause problems when you’re using it. Second, it will be much easier to mulch the leaves if you rake them into piles first. I took a normal rake and went around my yard and created several small piles, which then made using this mulcher much more efficient. Also make sure you have a large garbage can ready so you can dump the bag of mulched leaves into it each time it fills up. Based on my experience with this leaf mulcher, I highly recommend it. The only thing that would make it better is if Worx came out with a battery-powered version so you didn’t have to drag a cord around your yard. But a battery-powered version might be too heavy and might not have enough power, so maybe that’s why Worx hasn’t done that.

Customer Review: A single person’s dream!!!!! I was absolutely dreading cleaning my hard. It is just so much work for one person. This made ot so much easier! Blew all my leaves into a giant pile and sucked them all up! Lightweight easy to assemble and works fantastic! Even takes up small sticks. Like the one that are attached to leaves sometimes. The bag is larger than I expected. If you are realistic you will love it as well!!! GREAT PURCHASE

Customer Review: This backpack leaf blower is exactly what I needed for my large property. The 63cc engine provides immense power, and the 850 CFM airflow blows through even the wettest leaves and thickest piles with ease. I was particularly impressed with how it handled the acorns that fall from my oak trees; it just blasts them away. The cruise control feature is a game-changer for long sessions, reducing fatigue significantly. The build quality feels solid, and it starts up reliably after following the break-in procedures. It’s a serious tool for serious yard work.

Customer Review: I bought this blower hoping it would be the ultimate solution for my yard cleanup, especially for clearing gravel driveways and keeping the patio clean. While the power is undeniable, I found the vibration to be quite intense, even with the padded straps. It also has a tendency to kick up a lot of dust and smaller stones when used on gravel, so careful aim is needed. The fuel mixture is also a bit of a hassle compared to battery options. It works, and it works powerfully, but it’s not without its drawbacks for specific applications.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I had the prior version of this product abd LOVED IT, except for the bag falling apart every 2 years (Cheap/bad zipper). Black and decker fixed that issue on this unit. The only thing that could be changed would be a bigger colle tion bag, but that would make it cost more. I took the open end and attached it to rung that hold the 50 gal contractors bags and when it fills I just slid on another bag.Mulches great, for a $80. Dollar electric machine, does everything I need it to do. GREAT PRODUCT.

Customer Review: My neighbors in The Villages, Florida, warned me against buying the BLACK+DECKER 3-in-1 Leaf Blower, Vacuum, and Mulcher, insisting it would not perform well and that the mulcher would likely chip or break. They could not have been more wrong, and I am thrilled to prove it.Living here means battling magnolia trees that shed leaves constantly, year-round, turning my yard into a relentless mess. This backpack blower has transformed my cleanup routine. The blower clears piles quickly, the vacuum handles the debris effortlessly, and the mulcher powers through thick leaves, producing neatly compacted bags for easy disposal. There is no chipping or breaking, just consistent, reliable performance designed for Florida’s humid, leafy challenges.Having tried cheaper cordless tools that failed after one season, this has become my favorite yard tool. It is comfortable to wear, simple to switch between modes, and powerful enough to tackle large lots with ease. For anyone in a leaf-heavy area like The Villages, ignore the skeptics and get this. It is worth every penny for the time and effort it saves. Five stars.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Omg my son is in LOVE with this backpack blower. Does fall apart at hose connector, but it easily goes back together. The goggles do pull his ears down, and the headphones are hard and do hurt his ears, which he does not use, but not deal makers for us. The purchase was to simply the backpack which we do recommend highly. We have only had it for a couple days now, so I’m not sure the longevity.

Customer Review: This is probably the worse toy I have ever bought. The hose that fits into the leaf blower does not fit, if you push too hard the plastic pack comes apart. My grandson cried because I couldn’t get it to work, this item is not worth even 10 dollars much less 32.00. I’m so disappointed in the cheap plastic it’s made out of, and nothing works even the blower is so silent you can’t tell it’s working!

Complete Buying Guide for Best Leaf Blower Backpack

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing the best leaf blower backpack, several key factors come into play. We look at the power of the engine (measured in CFM and MPH), the comfort and ergonomics of the backpack harness, the type of fuel (gas, battery, or corded electric), and the overall durability and build quality. For gas models, we also consider fuel efficiency and ease of starting. For battery-powered units, battery life and charging time are crucial. We also evaluate features like variable speed controls, cruise control, and noise levels. Ultimately, we aim for a balance of performance, comfort, and reliability.

Budget Planning

Leaf blower backpacks vary significantly in price. While high-powered commercial gas models can cost upwards of $500, more affordable options for homeowners are available in the $150-$300 range. Battery-powered units often fall in a similar bracket, with prices influenced by battery capacity and included accessories. Corded electric models are typically the most budget-friendly, but their range is limited. Consider your yard size and the typical debris load when setting your budget. Remember to factor in potential costs for accessories like extra batteries or fuel if applicable. You can find some great deals on blowers under $150, but for true backpack power, expect to invest a bit more.

Final Thoughts

Selecting the right leaf blower backpack depends on your specific needs. For raw power and extended runtime on large properties, a robust gas model is often the best choice. If you prioritize convenience and environmental friendliness, a high-voltage battery-powered unit like the Greenworks 80V offers excellent performance. For smaller yards or budget-conscious buyers, a versatile corded electric model can suffice. No matter your choice, a backpack leaf blower will transform your yard maintenance routine, making it more efficient and less physically demanding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between a gas and battery-powered backpack leaf blower?

A: Gas backpack leaf blowers generally offer more raw power and longer runtimes without needing to recharge, making them ideal for large properties and heavy debris. Battery-powered models are typically quieter, lighter, and more environmentally friendly, with runtimes improving significantly with higher voltage batteries. However, they are limited by battery life and charging times.

Q: How much CFM do I need in a leaf blower backpack?

A: For typical residential use clearing dry leaves, 400-600 CFM is usually sufficient. For wet leaves, heavy debris, or larger yards, aim for 600 CFM or higher. Commercial-grade blowers can exceed 900 CFM for maximum power.

Q: Are backpack leaf blowers heavy?

A: Backpack leaf blowers are designed to distribute weight across the shoulders and back, making them feel lighter than handheld units of similar power. However, powerful gas models can still be heavy, so ergonomics and adjustability of the harness are crucial for comfort.

Q: Can I use a leaf blower backpack for snow removal?

A: While most backpack leaf blowers are designed for leaves and light debris, high-powered gas models with significant CFM and MPH can effectively clear light, dry snow from surfaces like driveways and sidewalks. They are not suitable for heavy, wet snow.

Q: What is the best way to maintain a backpack leaf blower?

A: For gas models, regular maintenance includes checking spark plugs, air filters, and fuel lines, and using the correct fuel-oil mixture. For battery models, keeping batteries charged and clean is key. For all types, ensure the blower is clean, store it properly, and inspect the harness and tubes for wear and tear.

Investing in a leaf blower backpack is a game-changer for anyone serious about maintaining their property. Whether you opt for the raw power of a gas model or the convenience of a battery-powered unit, the ergonomic design will make tackling fall cleanup and other yard tasks significantly easier. Browse our selection, consider your yard’s needs, and get ready to experience a new level of efficiency in your lawn care routine.
