Customer Reviews

“Working fine for me. Easy to use. No battery. Lightweight. No gas. Has enough power to cut tall weeds and grass. I’m almost 72 in good health, fit, I can lift a 50 pound cement bag, that kinda stuff. I didn’t want to smell gas fumes. Yes it will take me longer using an electric mower but I also wanted the grass clippings picked up. More of a manicure lawn look. Sometimes I clip the weeds with my long handle shears then use the mower. I know it’s a long arduous process! But at retired 72 all I got is time and burning calories too. I take the clippings over to my next door neighbors goats sheep and chickens and ducks. They love the fresh cut grass and weeds. I’m cutting the Cal Fire required 100 feet clearance around my house, goats pen and dog house. We have 29 acres and lost everything but one house in the June 2024 Apache Wildfire. Barring some other catastrophic event we will be in good shape if another wildfire happens.”

“The media could not be loaded. I was trying to find something that would pick up grass clippings before the winter. I did not want to deal gas or batteries. I looked at multiple electric corded push lawn mowers on Amazon. The LawnMaster had the best features, prices and reviews. This little lawn mower exceeded my expectations. It cuts the grass with no issues. The lever to change the height is very convenient. It is very easy to push. The cord was not a nuisance and easy to deal with while pushing the mower back-and-forth. The collection bag is very easy to remove and dump. I filled up two trash cans of grass clippings in under an hour. I highly recommend this lawn mower.”

Customer Reviews

“Anyone can put this together in less than 5 minutes. All’s needed is a fraction of upper body strength in order to snap on the handle bar assembly. No tools required besides your bare hands. Best Mower I have ever owned. Period. I no longer worry about an extension cord getting in the way, gas not keeping the thing oiled besides using wd40 to keep the rust off and things running smoothly. People suggest it’s a work out, well I say it’s equivalent to owning a rotary manual push lawn mower (The ones with a loud motor). Takes just as much force and energy! I have seen an 80 year old push Reel mowers easily.. If your Grass is so long use weed eater first then reel. Watch for rock as hitting one can knock the bed blade out of alignment but easily fixed. So far after my first cut it seems to be holding together! Someone said the tires are rubber but that’s not true more of a soft hard plastic but even in slight dry mud it maneuvered extremely well! I didn’t see a lot of people using the bag so I wanted to say the bag works great with some minor adjustments to the clip strap I was able to mow my entire yard by pushing the clipping to the back and filled the bag all the way to the top! My yard is large. Went through crab grass, weeds easily. Cut quality superb much better than any rotary! After I was done I wiped it down best I could, clean it and hit it with some wd40 including the blades. Highly recommended! By the way 1 reviewer said his stopped moving…Thats because you probably hit a rock and the blades are hitting the bed blade to much causing it to lock.. you need to actually read your manual there are 2 screws you need to find on the sides and make minor adjustment to fix that!”

“I’ve been using a reel mower for a few years now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for my lawn. Initially, I was a bit intimidated – I’d only ever used rotary mowers – but it turned out to be much easier than I expected, and the results are truly impressive. The biggest advantage is the cut quality. A reel mower slices the grass blades cleanly, like a pair of scissors, rather than hacking at them like a rotary mower. This creates a much healthier lawn that’s less susceptible to disease and pests. The grass looks incredibly lush and even, almost like a golf course. It’s a noticeable difference. Beyond the aesthetics, I also appreciate the eco-friendliness of a reel mower. Mine is a manual push model, so it requires no gas or electricity, making it completely emissions-free. It’s also much quieter than a gas-powered mower, which my neighbors appreciate. Even the electric reel mowers are significantly more energy-efficient than traditional gas mowers. While there’s a bit of a learning curve, mastering the reel mower is surprisingly easy. The key is to mow frequently, taking off only a small amount of grass each time. This prevents the mower from getting bogged down and ensures a clean, even cut. It also encourages the grass to grow thicker and healthier. Some people might think reel mowers are only suitable for small lawns, but I’ve found that’s not necessarily true. While they’re certainly great for smaller yards, I’ve seen people use them effectively on larger lawns as well. It just might take a little longer. Overall, I’m thrilled with my reel mower. It gives me a beautiful, healthy lawn, it’s environmentally friendly, and it’s a great way to get some exercise. If you’re looking for an alternative to traditional mowers and want to take your lawn care to the next level, I highly recommend giving a reel mower a try. You might be surprised at how much you love it.”

Customer Reviews

“I live in Phoenix on an acre parcel and most of it is in desert landscape. Therefore no formal lawn to mow. Yaaa. However when it rains here the weeds grow, well like weeds. Fast and furious. This year we had lots of rain and lots of weeds. I’ve been running a battery powered weed eater every day for a week or so. My back is aching from twisting sideways back and forth so it was time to look for a better solution. I figured how about a small battery powered lawn mower and then I found this thing at about half the cost. So figuring I’d probably junk it after a couple tries I decided to give it a try. Really glad I did. Soon as it arrived I put it together and out I went. It had just rained again and everything was wet but I had to try it. Worked perfectly. Knocked down and chewed up everything I ran it over and no extra back pain as a bonus. I charged up the batteries( comes with 2) overnight and set out to do a good cleanup the next day. This thing is a real delight. It runs about 20 minutes on each battery and since the batteries are fairly small you can carry the spare one in your pocket. another thing about the batteries is the way they eject from the tool. Push the button on the battery and it pops out of the tool’s battery compartment. I mention this because removing the battery from my other “green” weed eater is a real chore You have to push in 2 tabs, one on each side of the battery, and forcibly pull it from the tool. My wife can’t even manage doing it and I barely can, often resorting to prying it loose with a screwdriver while pushing the tabs with both hands. The black and decker baterries just eject with 1 hand by pushing the button, I love it. When you get close to a fence or wall and the platform won\’t get close enough, the weed wacker removes from the deck instantly by stepping on a lever on the deck and lifting the handle of the weed wacker forward and up. To return it back in the deck reverse the process, simple and easy. Keep in mind this is a regular string trimmer. It is not a bladed lawn mower and does not do the job of a bladed lawn mower It is a string trimmer on wheels. because you push it similar to vacuming a carpet , front and back, front and back, instead of constantly twisting sideways it doesn\’t put the strain on your arms and back liike a regular string trimmer does. It does not mulch as fine as a mower would and if you have tall weeds or grass as I did you will need to make several passes, as you would with any string trimmer except you don\’t have to hold it up, just push it back and forth. I have not had to replace the line yet so I cannot comment on that, except to say looking at it, it looks like the exact same process as the other 2 trimmers I have. To clear the bottom of the deck I simply remove the trimmer and wash out the deck with a hose. its been coated with wet grass almost every time I finish. I\’m sure dry shorter vegetation will cut much easier. I\’m cutting damp weeds and bermuda grass about knee high. The deck is light weight plastic but seems durable enough. If the deck should deteriorate and I have to replace it, the replacement cost of the set is about the same as a different manufacture\’s string trimmer alone. but I\’ll worry about that if it happens. so far I have no regrets whatsoever.”

“The 3-in-1 Black + Decker lawn mower, trimmer is tops in my book! Let me tell you I sure wish I had this gem of a tool years ago and not when I’m 71. I just happened to see this when I was looking at yard tools on Amazon. When I saw it was Black + Decker I knew it was worth a try. And it’s a game changer. The kids that used to do lawns in my area don’t want to do it now. And that’s okay now that I found what I call my “Barbie doll mower” 😆 When I picked up the box it came in my thought was there is just no way there is a lawn mower in this box. But Black + Decker did not disappoint! It works like a charm. I can mow my own lawn often to keep up on it and keep it looking nice without paying someone. And at the very low cost I could buy one of these every other month and be at the cost I was paying. So no more weed whacking for me like I had to do recently after the weeds got out of control while I was trying to find somebody to do my lawn. I was not able to upload a video so I will tell you instead. I can mow and turn the mower to an angle with ease. I can stop mowing if I see a spot that needs the trimmer, remove the handle and trim the spot, then reattach and continue mowing. The mower also gets into tight spots and goes on an incline easily to mow in front of plants. It is light to life and carry. Color me happy! The only reason that it looked like I was having trouble is because I was taking the video with one of my hands. Lift out the trimmer which is also the edger. The battery life may not be as long as I would like but the two charged batters are enough to do the mowing. After recharge I can do the edging.”

“It is smaller than I expected but very effective. The runtime is kinda short but that could be because my lawn was a little high and thick at first. There is not much to assembling the mower and it takes a few hours to charge the battery fully. It is really light weight and the discharge bag is small but easy to attach and remove. It’s quiet and easy to push.”

“Easy to set up. Priced right. Easy to use. Easy to store. I have 2 smaller sized front and back lawns and was not looking to drop a ton on a lawn mower. This was cheap enough I just hope it worked well. It did great! This was exactly what I was looking for. The battery will be enough to do both front and back yard in a charge. Hopefully it stands the test of time. 10/10 recommend.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Lawnmower For The Money

Essential Factors We Consider

When looking for the best lawnmower for the money, we focus on several key aspects. Power source is crucial: electric mowers are quieter, lighter, and more eco-friendly, while gas mowers offer more power for larger tasks. Cutting width determines how quickly you can mow, with wider decks being more efficient. Ease of use, including starting mechanisms, handle comfort, and height adjustment systems, plays a big role in user satisfaction. Finally, durability and build quality ensure your mower lasts for many seasons, offering true long-term value.

Budget Planning

It’s possible to find excellent mowers without spending a fortune. Electric and reel mowers generally fall into the lower price brackets, making them great options for budget-conscious shoppers. While some high-end cordless models can be pricey, many offer great value by including batteries and chargers. Always consider the total cost of ownership, including maintenance and fuel (if applicable), when comparing prices. For smaller yards, a basic but reliable electric mower is often the most cost-effective choice.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the best lawnmower for the money ultimately depends on your specific yard size and needs. We’ve highlighted models that excel in offering great performance and features at competitive price points. Whether you need a powerful machine for a large lawn or a compact, efficient mower for a small urban garden, there’s a value-packed option out there for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between corded and cordless electric mowers?

A: Corded electric mowers require you to plug into an outlet and manage an extension cord, limiting your range. Cordless electric mowers run on rechargeable batteries, offering more freedom of movement but with limited runtime per charge.

Q: Are reel mowers still a good option today?

A: Yes, reel mowers are an excellent eco-friendly and budget-friendly choice, especially for smaller, well-maintained lawns. They provide a very clean cut and require no fuel or electricity.

Q: How important is the cutting width of a lawnmower?

A: Cutting width directly impacts how quickly you can mow your lawn. A wider deck (e.g., 20 inches or more) means fewer passes are needed, saving you time. For small yards, a narrower width (14-18 inches) is often sufficient and can make the mower lighter and more maneuverable.

Q: How do I choose the right lawnmower for my yard size?

A: For small yards (under 1/4 acre), lightweight corded or cordless electric mowers, or even reel mowers, are usually ideal. For medium yards (1/4 to 1/2 acre), a more powerful electric or a smaller gas mower might be better. Large yards often benefit from wider deck mowers, self-propelled models, or even riding mowers, but finding the best lawn mower for large yards often involves a higher budget.

Q: What maintenance do electric mowers require?

A: Electric mowers require significantly less maintenance than gas mowers. Typically, you’ll only need to keep the deck clean and sharpen or replace the blade periodically. Battery maintenance is also minimal, usually involving proper charging and storage.

When seeking the best lawnmower for the money, remember that the ideal choice balances your lawn’s specific needs with your budget. The models reviewed here offer exceptional value, providing reliable performance and features without demanding a premium price. We encourage you to consider your yard’s size, terrain, and your personal preferences to make the most informed decision. Happy mowing!
